When I select some large nnml group using C-u space, an d I request say 40
articles, I get the 40 last that have been spooled there. Usually it is
ok, except when respooling occured (see my previous request ;-)). Is
there any way to change the behaviour so that the actual 40 last (sorted
according article sorting rules, ie date for me) be selected? Oor to
rebuild the .overview file according to these sorted rules (admitting
that would work).

Thanks in advance,

No, I'm afraid it is not easy to do that. The number 40 refers to
the headers that Gnus requests from the backend, and Gnus performs
the sorting only afterwards, so the header request cannot acommodate
the sorting rules.

You would have to request all headers from the backend, then sort
them, then take the last 40 according to the sorting. Hm. I think
there is no built-in functionality in Gnus for doing this.

Ok, I was a bit afraid of it. Another possibility would (may ?) be to
select all the messages, let them be sorted and ask to respool them into
this very same group (ie : not using the sorting rules). Would that
work?

Use `B m' to move them. That would work.
