I recently switched to (NT) XEMacs for GNUs just to get faster NNIMAP
response times, but you never can win completely, can you? Now when I
try to follow a link in an article XEmacs hangs for around 10-15
seconds before opening my browser window, almost as though it's trying
to do something else before giving up with a timeout. Anyone have an
idea why?
Thanks in advance,

In my experience, 15 second timeouts usually mean that it's trying to
do a DNS thing of some kind, but that's just a guess.
