In my case, if I get really annoyed, I'll set a permanent very low score
for the individual.  However, generally, I stop reading posts by such
people and eventually the adaptive scoring leads to those posts being
marked as to be ignored, i.e. automatically marked as read.

Of course, if really really annoying, I can simply add the person to my
kill file which works very well in gnus.  But that is an extreme case.
