There is an annoying and long standing bug involving total-expire and
the drafts group; details and a minimal example to reproduce it are in
the threads

It is still present (git pull this afternoon, GNU Emacs 23.1.1
(i486-pc-linux-gnu, X toolkit, Xaw3d scroll bars) of 2010-03-29 on
rothera, modified by Debian)

Unfortunately I don't have the body anymore, but the information is all
there in the threads.
My solution in the bug report caused problems elsewhere (see the second
thread). I've given up on it, it's too deeply buried in the internal
logic of gnus for me.
If you fixed this I'd be thrilled.
