Hi all,

the admins at my university migrated their IMAP server to some other
machine. Now I have two groups that always show 5 and 11 unread
messages after hitting `g' in *Group*.

When I hit `RET' on these groups, the unread count changes to 0 again
and the group is not entered.

It seems Gnus cached something that makes it look like there are unread
messages. Any suggestion how to fix things again. I should mention
that this server is not agentized.

Bye,
Tassilo

If UIDVALIDITY etc changes, then nnimap is meant to discover this and do
a full resync of the marks.

Does `M-g' on the group fix the problem?

Oh, yes, it does. I've thought `g' is basically `M-g' on all groups,
but that seems to be not completely true.

Thanks,
Tassilo

In the olden days of severely broken nnimap, M-g was the only way to get
correct article numbers so I guess it does some more involved things.

Have you ever considered how much text can fit in eighty columns? Given that a
signature typically contains up to four lines of text, this space allows you to
attach a tremendous amount of valuable information to your messages. Seize the
opportunity and don't waste your signature on bullshit that nobody cares about.

`M-g' does a total resync of all flags from the server, while `g' tries
to be efficient and fast...
