I'm not sure I'd like this.  I actually like the new behavior of C-a
in the headers, but in the body when I C-a in quoted text it's almost
always to kill the line, or mark a region (to later kill).  I'm not
sure how often you want to be able to kill someone's quoted text and
replace it... (which is why this feature is useful in the headers,
IMO)

How about the '> >>|> ]>>' prefix, or the '    daniel> ' prefix or the
'~ ' prefix or...

Not to mention the fact that I more often want to have it go to the
(real) start of the line. :)

Actually, I possibly should have been clearer. I see semi-regular emails
that Gnus does not identify the quoting prefix correctly on, simply
because many people don't know the RFC and use something "pretty"
themselves.

On this basis, the idea of Gnus mostly but not always going to the start
of text, not the start of the citation, is unappealing.

Solving the cite mark problem is, of course, AI-complete and should wait
'til we get the general Emacs AI module working first. :)

I would strongly suggest that you do *not* define this as the default
functionality. Recent objections aside, most people expect the header
names to be "read-only" parts of the text.

This assumption does not, I suggest, hold true for the body of an email.
I think that making this "clever" action the default would be a bad,
surprising and intrusive thing.

So, I am happy for you to implement it and all, together with the
infrastructure to enable it nicely. Just don't turn it on for me, yes?

I don't think so.

At least 9 times out of 10, if I press C-a in a line with a cite
prefix, the next keypress will be C-k.

The proposed behavior's primary impact would be to make it more work
to trim citations, and nobody wants that.  :-)
