I found some apparently unused .marks files from perhaps an earlier
version of gnus. Can I remove them?
$ find Mail -name .marks -ls
156306 8 -rw-r--r-- 1 jidanni jidanni 6070 Mar 23 2012 Mail/mail/misc/.marks
156412 4 -rw-r--r-- 1 jidanni jidanni 809 Mar 19 2012 Mail/mail/debianbugs/.marks

Also I see
(apropos (quote ("nnml-marks-is-evil")) nil)
shows something but that is all I know.

Just based on what you show, if you've modified article marks in those
groups since the date shown and the .marks haven't changed, I'd guess
it's safe to remove them. But make a backup just in case.
