I think gnus should use bury-buffer when the buffers are not in use.
I frequently run with several frames open, and go back and forth from
my mail frame to other frames. When I'm finished reading articles, I
hit 'q' to get back to group mode, and then iconify the frame. The
problem is that now the *Article* buffer is no longer associated with
a frame, and it becomes the first buffer for the switch-to-buffer
command.
It seems interesting to me that the *Article* buffer still exists, but
the *Summary ...* buffer doesn't. Maybe it should be deleted instead
of buried.

See the variable gnus-kill-summary-on-exit if you don't want the
summary buffers to be killed.
