Is there a way to specify user name and password to login
to paid nntp servers?

See the node `NNTP' in the online manual and/or the documentation for
the variable nntp-authinfo-function.

Is it possible to have one (the main) server with authentication, and
some others without? Or, as a workaround, how do i specify an empty
password in the .authinfo-file? Empty names work with "", but
passwords not.

In your ~/.authinfo (or whatever your `nntp-authinfo-file' points to),
don't list servers that doesn't need authentication. Also, make sure
you don't have any authentication functions (like nntp-send-authinfo)
_always_ called from `nntp-server-opened-hook' and friends.
