When using nnfolder to take care of my mail, I've noticed that the
0.73 version seems to interpret the last message in the nnfolder-file
as two messages: One which is the real last message, simply, and the
other which is the last message minus its headers. In summary-mode,
this is what it looks like:

R [ 18: St. Suika Fenderson ] Re: Problem with nnvirtual in 0.72?
R [ 11: Jason L Tibbitts III]
R [ 14: Han Pilmeyer ]
R [ 0: nobody ] (none)

When selecting the last `nobody'-message, I get up the body of the
last message. I have not noticed anything like this in any older
version of rgnus.

Yup. Fix in Red Gnus v0.74.

I can't offer much in the way of help, but FWIW I have seen
similar behavior when respooling the messages in an RMAIL file
read in as an nndoc (I use nnml not nnfolder though).

This was a one time move for me though, and since only about
6-10 of my 400-500 messages got munged I didn't bother to
investigate in detail (I do still have the RMAIL file though).

	I'm using: Gnus v5.3; nntp 4.0; nnml 1.0; nndoc 1.0.

I actually found that sometimes the `nobody'-message only had
part of the body and that some of the body was somehow being
treaded as the header (ie the first part of the message was
hidden until I hit 't' to show the article headers.)
