[5.4.52] How can I 'make most' in texi?

Gnus v5.4.52; nntp 5.0; nnbabyl 1.0

I tried to 'make most' in the texi/ directory with the most recent
version of Gnus.

It's looking for some .elc file that wasn't supplied with the
distribution.

Help?

You can't.  "make all" and "make texi" are the only legal options for
anyone that isn't me.

So what's the recommended way to generate a .dvi file of the manual?

(downloading the gnus-manual-standard.ps.gz file required me to
handedit the file and change all references of a4 to letter, and that
didn't completely fix it.)

Presumably, "make dvi"

Hm.  There should be two versions of the ps manual -- one in letter
size, and one in a4 size.  Are they both in the same format?
