Deleting cached articles -- no?

Hi,

I haven't changed anything about the default caching behavior (I
think).  When I hit `u' to tick an article, it is duly inserted into
the cache (shows up marked `!*').  When I now hit `d' on such an
article I would expect it to be removed from the cache (both
characters `!*' disappear), but it isn't, it's still marked `*'.

Yeah, I noticed that too.  The articles _are_ removed from the cache
when you leave the group, but the feedback could be better.

Well, what should the feedback be?  I don't want the articles to be
removed from the cache right away -- you may change your mind after
typing `d' on an article.  So deleting them on group exit seems like
the right thing to do.

Well, don't remove them from the cache, but remove (or change?) the *
which marks the article as cached.  That way you have a chance of
changing your mind, without getting confused like Kai did.

Right.  That is also the behavior of M-*, isn't it?  (Haven't
checked.)

No, `M-*' removes the article from the cache immediately.

Well -- they *are* still in the cache, so won't removing the "*" mark
be equally confusing?

	Will pressing "*" again at this point prevent them from being
deleted?  If I re-add the "*", I will expect that to stop the deletion,
no?

No.  This is about active caching; what articles are cached is
controlled by the `gnus-cache-remove-articles' and
`gnus-cache-enter-articles' variables.

Oh.  I just assumed that if it's marked `*' it's still in the cache.
OK, now I know that I don't need to M-* any more.
