annoying unread (false) messages shown in group buffer but not in summary buffer

Hello

I find this very annoying. First time I call gnus he shows
me unread message in certain groups 
(using nnimap backend and nognus 0.11!)
but when I enter the
group there are not unread groups and when I return to the
group buffer the unread message have been gone.

However in other groups there are indeed unread
messages. How can I get rid of this behavior?

The new nnimap tries very hard to not have this happen.  Under what
circumstances do nnimap groups show unread articles when there are none?
