GNU Emacs 20.3.1 (sparc-sun-solaris2.5.1, X toolkit) of Thu Aug 27 1998 on darwin
Hi,
Each time I open up the my mail group nnml:mail.gnus, base64 gets
loaded a bunch of times. Why is this? Isn't base64 being loaded via
autoload? In which case, shouldn't it just get loaded once? Here is
an excerpt from my *Messages* buffer:
Retrieving newsgroup: nnml:mail.gnus...
Fetching headers for nnml:mail.gnus...
Loading base64...
Loading base64...done
Loading base64...
Loading base64...done
Loading base64...
Loading base64...done
Loading base64...
Loading base64...done
Loading base64...
Loading base64...done

Loading base64...

If I exit that group and then re-enter it, base64 gets loaded a bunch
more times.

Yes.

Weird. Put
(debug)
in your base64.elc file and run with that to get a backtrace when the
file is being loaded to see what is loading it all the time.
