WIBNI if this function was a little more customizable?

Alternatives:

  - Define a template where %s or %f or %a or something is replaced by
the author's name, such that the templace "%f writes:" produces
the current behavior and "* %f:" produces the citation lines used
    by Erik Naggum.

  - Define variables for a prefix and a suffix, such that prefix ""
and suffix " writes:" produce the current behavior and prefix "* "
and suffix ":" produce the behavior used by Erik.

For the former suggestion, one could also have %m or %e for mail
address, for example.

While doing this would be easy enough (if we ignore the layering
violation and let Message use the Gnus formatting variable stuff), I
don't think this is a good idea -- I *want* people not to fiddle with
the citation lines. Having a semi-standard citation line is easy on
the eyes -- it's readily apparent what it is, so the eyes just skip
past them. "Cute" citation lines waste human time.

Semi-standard citation lines also makes highlighting them easier.
