This used to work
emacs -batch -l gnus -f gnus-batch-score
Now, when gnus-5.4.67 has scored all newsgroups it says
No more unread newsgroups
No more unread newsgroups
Wrong type argument: number-or-marker-p, nil
qgnus-0.10 says the same thing.

Could you put `(setq debug-on-error t)' in your .gnus.el (and put "-l
.gnus.el" on the command line) to get a backtrace?
