In an effort to clean up my .newsrc, I did 'b'
(gnus-check-bugus-newsgroups). Unfortunately, this also removed all of my
slashdot groups and they won't come back when I do 'g.' Do I just have
wait until more news show up there?

It should only have removed them if nnslashdot didn't know about
them. Does `F' recreate them?
