I kinda botched the last release, so here's one that should fix it.

Get it from <URL:http://quimby.gnus.org/gnus/dist/ognus-0.10.tar.gz>
or "/ftp@quimby.gnus.org:/pub/gnus/". The patch is available as
<URL:ftp://quimby.gnus.org/pub/gnus/ding-patches/ognus-0.09-0.10.diff.gz>.

ChangeLog since last release:

2003-01-05 01:53:30 Lars Magne Ingebrigtsen <lars@ingebrigtsen.no>

	* gnus.el: Oort Gnus v0.10 is released.

2003-01-05 Lars Magne Ingebrigtsen <larsi@gnus.org>

	* gnus.el (gnus-version-number): Fix version number.

Hm. I'm at 0.11 here, or am I missing something?

When version X is released, the cvs changes to version X+1

message.el in Oort 0.10 binds `C-c C-p' to message-insert-wide-reply in
message-mode-map (0.07 did not do this). `C-c C-p' is historically a
"private" prefix that GNU Emacs reserved for users to bind their own three
(or more) key sequences.

Did this change? Did I blink?

Yes, I guess there are still some Supercite aficionados out there who
customarily use C-c C-p.

Somewhat off-topic, Preview-LaTeX also uses C-c C-p...

Well, I'm no longer a Supercite aficionado :). I use a very simple,
home-brew citing function. But I do use C-c C-p to prefix some commonly
used stuff in message-mode. Emacs throws an error with Oort 0.10 when
trying to bind C-c C-p o when C-c C-p is already bound to a function.

My understanding is that nothing should be using C-c C-p except end users.
I wanted to find out if that had changed.

My understanding is that this was never so. The Emacs (or ELisp)
manual explicitly says that bindings C-c C-a through C-c C-z are
reserved for (major?) modes whereas C-c a through C-c z are reserved
for the user.

Hm.

Hm, but does it do it in message-mode? Didier Verna's excellent
XEmacs package "Patcher" uses C-c C-p in message-mode.

Maybe it was only a brief change, in Oort Gnus v0.11:

,----[ C-h w message-insert-wide-reply RET ]

Okay. Looks like a mistake on my part, then.

Yes, that's a bad keystroke... Anybody have a suggestion for a

It might not be inherently. I probably had the C-c C-p vs. C-c p thing
backwards all these years.

Umm... but maybe C-c M-t makes a little more sense, paralleling C-c C-t?

Doh!

That's what I used to prefix several commands in tmda.el:
http://cvs.sf.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/~checkout~/tmda/tmda/contrib/tmda.el

Unfortunate...

What about C-c C-f M-t? Putting it under the C-c C-f header field map?

All the `C-c C-f' commands just move to the header in question; they
don't insert anything, so I'm not sure that's optimal...

There are already some `C-c C-f' bindings that insert or modify
headers:

 C-c C-f C-i cycle through Importance values
 C-c C-f s change subject and append \"(was: <Old Subject>)\"
C-c C-f x crossposting with FollowUp-To header and note in body
C-c C-f t replace To: header with contents of Cc: or Bcc:
 C-c C-f a Insert X-No-Archive: header and a note in the body

The last four were introduced not too long ago (2002-09-17) so it
should be okay to change them, if the bindings contradict the policy.

`C-c C-f C-i' was already introduced on 2001-11-19.

Bye, Reiner.
