A zero length, undocumented `dir' file appeared in the texi/ directory
in qgnus-0.14. Was this intentional?

Well -- it was supposed to appear, but it wasn't supposed to be
empty. Does that count as intentional or not? :-)

It should be non-empty now.

I've now synched things up fully, so patches should apply cleanly from
the next version.

I had problems applying the patches to a clean 0.14 tree. There is still a
ChangeLog entry in the lisp/ChangeLog file for the 0.1 release at the start
of the file. Also the lisp/gnus-sum.el file couldn't be patched correctly
as it didn't contain the typo (double dot at the end of the line) in the
docstring of the function `gnus-summary-next-unread-same-subject'.
