Hi,

here is some additional info on this problem. If i set

(standard-display-8bit 128 255)

then all 8-bit chars are displayed (instead of sequences like \301),
but are taken from the latin1 fonts instead of koi8-r, as the message
header states. maybe, emacs tries to guess the coding system and when
it sees 8-bit chars in the buffer it defaults to iso-8859-1? but why
then i do not have such problems in nnmbox `newsgroups'? What should i
set to make the behavior wrt charsets/encodings/visibility in other
`newsgroups' the same as in nnmbox? :)
