You know what I'd like in the agent?

no? Ok, I guess I'll have to tell you. Do you think we'll ever get
the point of being able to psychicly read things posted by someone elses
mind, and are you willing to port gnus to the new system when it comes
out (nnmind?)

Anyway, I've frequently used the agent heavily in the past (its really
cool), but I'd like for gnus to use the agent's cache files when
available even if in plugged mode. Or, use a new Semi-plugged mode.
Almost-plugged? The whole purpose is that occasionally, I'm plugged
so that I can send/post stuff immediately but I still have a cached
copy of the articles from the agent's snarf bucket. More importantly,
I do this all the time when using nnimap (mainly because nnimap fails
under the agent in the first place upon exiting the summary buffer)...

How much of a pain would this be?

That depends... how automated can it be to stuff agentized articles into
Gnus' conventional cache?

I have some prototype code for use in my telepathic surveys. I'll try
to isolate mind reading parts from the statistics part in a separate
library (esp.el). I believe there is a lot of potential for
that. I'll contact you when I have a first draft to an API.
Hopefully, you will be able to use it for creating a `nnmind.el'.

For those of you who want to alpha test `esp.el': Don't bother
contacting me, I'll contact you when it is ready.

Great! My mind will be waiting for your note.

ok. I'll just sit here and wait until then (my mind currently doesn't
handle interrupts properly, so I'll have to hang on my connection to you

It would be a semi-big pain. I think. The Agent does its thing, and
when plugged, a totally different thing is done, and never the twain
meet. But it's possible that something could be done by tricking the
cache code into looking at the Agent files as well, but it will be
ugly.

So -- eh.

Thats what I was afraid of. I wouldn't think it would be *that*
difficult, especially since the cache support is already there.

Plus, heh heh, shouldn't the cache directory variable really be a list
of directories instead of a single. That way, I could steal my
friends caches by using:

(setq gnus-cache-directories '("~/News/cache"
                               "~/News/agent"
                               "~friend/News/cache"
                               "~friend/News/agent"
			       "/lars@quimbies.gnus.org/path/to/ding/cache))

Heh. Wouldn't that be cool?

Yes. But I think it would be too much work.
