So does anyone in the U.S. have a guess at the cost of posting a letter to 
Norway?

I used a $1 stamp to send a regular "letter" sized envelope filled
with two sheets of copy paper folded around a ten dollar bill and 
four ones.

60 cents for a half ounce, 53 cents for each additional half ounce.  Just
get an airmail stamp and you should be set, or go to your local post office
and ask them to take care of it for you.

Be certain that you write airmail on the envelope or ask the post office to
send it airmail, because you _don't_ want it to go slow mail.
