Hi,

I am subscribed to multiple mailing lists, using the same email
address. When splitting the mail, what criteria should I use? For
example, I am subscribed to ding and to a debian list. How do I detect
ding or other mailing lists and route the mail appropriately? My guess
is the "Sender" header, but that might not work for all ding mails,
because it seems there is more than one server handling ding.

Any help appreciated.

I used to split on the Sender header, and used owner-foo for the foo
mailing list. (This would deal with your problem of having several
hosts.)

But now I split on the To and Cc headers, instead. When people
followup to your message, you often end up getting a cc. And that cc
doesn't come through the list, and so the Sender header isn't set
appropriately, and so the message ends up in the wrong group.

If you use fancy splitting, `to' can be used as an abbreviation for
To and Cc and so on.

Kinda off-topic remark: Ding and (probably most) Debian list are
present on Gmane (see <URL:http://www.gmane.org/>), where you can read
(thousands of) mailing lists as newsgroups.

Bye, Reiner.
