What causes an article to have buttonized `Next page' and `Previous
page' regions? How do I watch such an article as one page?

Thanks,

The 'page break' (or maybe 'form feed') character, ^L.

A literal ^L on a otherwise empty line.

I don't know how to avoid them, but you can make them by using C-q C-l
when writing messages.

I think for a temporarily full view you could use `C-u g<RET>'
Which shows the raw message and will also show the `linefeeds'
(^L).
