nnrss.el sometimes hangs

nnrss.el sometimes hangs

In the morning, I log in and start Emacs and Gnus.  When Gnus wants
to fetch stuff from the Web sites that I use with nnrss, it hangs.
(Rapidly toggles between displaying "Garbage collecting..." and
"Retrieving http://foo..." or similar.)  I have two nnrss groups, and
hitting C-g twice gets rid of this.

If I then do `g' it connects to the servers just fine and fetches the
data it wants to fetch.

I think that if I go away from Gnus for a long time and do `g', it
hangs again, but hitting `g' the second time works again.

Is anyone observing the same behavior?  How to find out what's the
problem?

fbi-www is my proxy server, but nothing changes (except for host name
