You mean during splitting time? It searches backwards from the end
of the msg id cache for the message id and then looks in that line
for the group name.
That means if there are several entries for the msgid (after moving
multiple times, for example), the last one wins.
But I don't understand why it uses a mail.misc group if the cache
file contains misc.
