Is there a way to permanently delete (or kill) a slashdot group?
There are many slashdot groups that show up that I don't find
interesting at all. I've tried to kill them via C-k, but they just
get downloaded and displayed the next time I use gnus.

Unsubscribing ("u") works for me.

That's true, but then they're stored in my .newsrc.eld. I guess I'm
looking for a way to get rid of some of them completely.
