I recently started using procmail to split mail into major categories
(i.e all mailinglists / personal mail), which I find useful when
traveling, as I can download my personal mail without forcing gnus to
split through mailinglist filth. However, immediately on setting

mail-sources '((directory :path "/home/xyz/procmaildir" :suffix ".spool"))

all my (complex) gnus lisp split rules went into a foetal position,
and gnus is now simpling writing procmaildir/foo as nnml/foo.n. How
can I get gnus to ignore procmail filename magic, treat those files as
just a collection of mailboxes, and restore itself to former vitality?

Stefan Kahrs in [Kah96] discusses the
notion of completeness--programs which never go wrong can be
   type-checked--which complements Milner's notion of
soundness--type-checked programs never go wrong [Mil78].

Set `nnmail-resplit-incoming'.
