Hello,

When I reply to a news post or a mail message in Gnus, the quoting text is
"Somebody <emailaddress> writes". I'd like to change it to "On %Date,
Somebody wrote:\n" but don't know how to do it. I searched Google and only
found an article in 1996.

http://www.geocrawler.com/archives/3/387/1995/12/0/2131218/

Unfortunately, this article does not work. I still gets the default
quoting of Gnus. Please help! Thanks!

The line is generated by a function. You can choose a function by
setting the variable message-citation-line-function.

There is a package Trivial Cite (tc) which contains a function (or
two) that does this. You can customize tc to produce the line you
like.
