Put
(eval-after-load "gnus-group"
'(define-key gnus-group-mode-map "\r" 'bijan-gnus-group-select-group))
in your .gnus file.

Thanks, my makeshift solution was to start gnus in my .emacs file and
then put the stuff after that line.
