What I wanted to say was: "I can't seem to get gnus to open my MH
folders *as nnml groups*, not to generate new .overview files for
them".

However, I think I've gotten past this.  It basically took cleaning
all the nnml out of my system, and then regenerating, per Kai's
suggestions.
