I'm just wondering what happens if I start Gnus with gnus-slave, without
any other gnusae running. Will it start a new master session?

I'm asking because I'm running Gnus on different machines, but with the
same $HOME on an NFS server. Mostly I don't know if another session is
running, when I want to start a new one.

What I am hoping is that I will be safe if I just start gnus with
gnus-slave all the time.

Suggestions for other working setups are also appreciated.
