I forgot to say I used the command 'unzip -a cont-tmf.zip'.

Thanks, Renaud.

I tried it, and the version output seems to be correct, but I still get
the same error.

I tried on my unmodified FC 5 installation at home and everything works
fine.

I'll be upgrading at work to FC 5 shortly and I hope to recover the
working installation.

Next time that you update, this macro does some checking on a mismatch between a format and an update, so that may help resolve future update problems

in general, the more recent versions have more provisions for checking

Please read this thread :

http://archive.contextgarden.net/message/20060406.052110.add5b9f3.en.html

It is not 100% identical to your situation, but almost all the comments
about format files should apply to FC4 as well.

Cheers, Taco

Hi Tom,

You're right... ;)
I don't know fedora well, but it seems to have tetex already installed
(with an old release of ConTeXt)
Try texexec --make --all en and see if texexec --version returns
something like this:

 TeXExec 5.4.3 - ConTeXt / PRAGMA ADE 1997-2005

               texexec : TeXExec 5.4.3 - ConTeXt / PRAGMA ADE 1997-2005
               texutil : TeXUtil 9.0.1 - ConTeXt / PRAGMA ADE 1992-2006
                   tex : pdfeTeX, 3.141592-1.30.6-2.2 (Web2C 7.5.5)
               context : ver: 2006.03.25 13:21
               cont-en : ver: 2006.03.25 13:21 fmt: 2006.4.4 mes: english

If this is not the case, you'll have to find cont-en.fmt to see if there
is the old context doesn't interfere with the new one (ls -al and check
dates).

Cheers,

Renaud

I just tried context for the first time on a Linux Fedora Core 4 PC
(after downloading and installing the latest cont-tmf.zip over the
original installation in my default /usr/share/texmf directory; I then
ran 'fmtutil --all'). My simple file, samplecontext.tex, reads:

\starttext

a test

\stoptext

I then tried:

% texexec samplecontext

and get the following errors ==>:
