This is all very well, but I was hoping not to have to write the Lisp Shell.

Honestly, I don't think that this is a feature for rc to include. Perhaps
rc's successor will come up with better ways to process lists and commands.
I fear a radical break from the current model will be required.

Paul Haahr has already started some work on rc's successor (he calls it
hs, for Hypothetical Shell. Cute..) and one of his goals is the equivalence
of rc lists and rc commands. Oh, and this time ~ is an infix operator :-).
