I started by trying to package it from source. The problem is that its makefile has no meaningful install target. I can copy the files in the $DESTDIR in the do_install function and use sed for the necessary modifications, but I do not have the time, patience and experience in CL to test and verify that everything works correctly. So Ι choose to use the binaries provided by the project instead. I will appreciate any help to make the package better. If using the binary package from the upstream project is problematic, that is fine, I can provide the template and -maybe-  the package myself.
