There is a new pull request by ericonr against master on the void-packages repository

https://github.com/ericonr/void-packages bind
https://github.com/void-linux/void-packages/pull/28352

bind: fix named service.
When used with the -f option, it can crash, likely due to a lack of
syslog. Using -g makes it work but still keeps it in the foreground, by
logging directly to stderr.

Fixes #18961.

Would appreciate confirmation from someone actively using named.

New comment by ahesford on void-packages repository

https://github.com/void-linux/void-packages/pull/28352#issuecomment-770322254

Comment:
This seems like a reasonable change and is in keeping with common practice for runit services. I suggest redirecting `stderr` to `stdout` and adding a `log` sub-service to route these messages through `vlogger`.

When used with the -f option, it can crash, likely due to a lack of

logging directly to stderr. By adding a logger to it, we follow the
pattern of most other services.

There's a merged pull request on the void-packages repository

bind: fix named service.
https://github.com/void-linux/void-packages/pull/28352

Description:
When used with the -f option, it can crash, likely due to a lack of
syslog. Using -g makes it work but still keeps it in the foreground, by
logging directly to stderr.

Fixes #18961.

Would appreciate confirmation from someone actively using named.
