not sure. here's one that is similar but was fixed in an earlier cups-filters release: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=926576
### Expected behaviour
When I print a file to the printer, it should print.
### Actual behaviour
Print job failed with "filter error".
cups error logs indicate this is due to ghostscript crashing:

As far as I understand from the log file, you are using Canon's driver for linux. I have also a Canon printer and my printer stopped printing with cups > 2.4. I ended downgrading to cups-2.3.3op2_1 (which I compiled locally with xbps-src) BUT I also compiled Canon's drivers by myself after doing some corrections inside the source files. Thankfully the some libraries worked although source code was not available. It took a lot of debugging.
I would share my instructions but they don't fit your printer, I have an MX920 and the driver is different. I haven't checked it. In my case Canon stopped releasing new versions for the printer since 2013.

tomo90 could you help me a little? I have an epson l120 and the cups log suggest the gutenprint filter failed (cups web interface says "idle - filter failed". I tried installing gutenprint from source and did it successfully but now how do i apply the specific driver on system-printer-config?

@Kakoks I'm not really familiar with system-printer-config. I just configure my printer through CUPS's standard web interface - [http://localhost:631](http://localhost:631/printers/)
The "Add printer" guide allows you to choose the guttenprint package you compiled and installed previously.
