One notable benefit of keeping the `<a></a>` tags is that the anchors do not change when the title itself changes.

@CameronNemo. Good point; link stability can be helpful.

i actually have no strong preference on this - i was the one that added the `<a>` tags in the first place, due to not being aware of the format for using Markdown anchors - but my understanding is that @ericonr has suggesting using `vmdfmt` on Void's Markdown-based docs to make them more consistent, and that this would be facilitated by using Markdown anchors. i'm fine with whatever decision is made.
