The `regex_2` test is failure because it uses obsolete py2 exception labeling syntax that py3 rejects.
Not sure about the import failure; I'm not at a PC and can't look closely now.

The default test setup is broken because the package includes both `regex_2` and `regex_3` alternatives for py2 and py3, respectively. If `regex_2` is removed and the symlink `regex -> regex_3` is created, `python3 setup.py test` succeeds.

Looks like this is outdated; please bump to 2020.10.15. Don't worry if the tests don't pass because it appears that the upstream test configuration is broken.
