Description:
Sendmail is a Mail Transport Agent (MTA).

It is suitable for handling sophisticated mail configurations, although this means that its configuration can also be complex. It is incredibly powerful mail software.

If I am not mistaken, the first thing every BSD admins (including me) does is to disable `sendmail` completely in `/etc/rc.conf` due to vulnerabilities. Other modern MTAs works more securely.

The last CVE I could find against sendmail was for 8.14.1 in 2014. Current version is 8.16.1. I think security has received more attention in recent versions. It can still do more than most other MTAs and configuration is "educational".
