This is by design, due, afaik, to portability concerns with the crash reporter implementations. We might be able to enable it with the next Firefox version for x86_64, but I don't know if others will agree. I also don't know how useful the crash reporter even is with the stripped binaries contained in our packages.

As far as i know, the only method for firefox to log the crash is by using crash reporter. Otherwise there will be nothing in both /var/log and ~/.mozilla/CrashReport. Whether or not firefox will send it, is just optional

Enabling core dumps is the standard way to "log crashes" of all programs.
Edit: this worked at least in the cases I had to debug firefox, but not sure if this works in all contexts because of the sandbox.

I believe Firefox does a weird dance where it catches at least SIGSEV, does something about it, and then signals all threads with SIGSEV again. That might make some core dumps weird.
Given that using core dumps is more involved, I would assume having a way to send crash reports directly to Mozilla is interesting, as long as it actually works with our stripped packages. We'd have to check that.

Our builds are not blessed by mozilla, sending them crashes or bug reports is not an option at all. (Technically we are probably not even allowed to use the official/Firefox branding.)
