Hi - I am interested in your distro, especially since you are keeping away
from systemd. I visited the void webpage and was unable to find a "Contact
us" section; I got your email from your post on DW.

1. Can you please add a "Contact Us" section on the Void homepage ?

2. How can I help?? :-)

Dave:

Moved this thread here to get more input from the community. A great place
to start would be contributing end-user documentation to the Wiki
at https://github.com/voidlinux/documentation/wiki.

Some High-Level thoughts:

* Networking
* Getting Desktop Environment Up
* thorough xbps-query examples

Would be good starts.

I'm not sure why I'm being excluded... while I'm the owner/main developer
of xbps/xbps-src/void-packages.

Anyway, what bougyman said is perfectly ok. Contributing to the wiki,
void-packages or even donations is
always welcome.

Cheers

Meanwhile I'm making new x86 live images that should fix some issues:

- No monospace font (ugly font in graphical terminal emulators)
- kvm unknown group

So far those are the only issues I've read on the distrowatch review
comments.

Note that there's still a regression in xorg-server-1.17 or qemu that makes
the mouse pointer not visible.

You can use "-vga vmware -usbdevice tablet" for the meantime.

I have added a quickstart-article in the wiki, explaining the steps to get
from a freshly installed base system to Xorg with XFCE and LightDM without
going too much into the details. Basically most of the information was
already present in the wiki but maybe this will help new users to easier
overcome the initial problems in the future.

Please feel free to complement what I forgot :)

And this <https://github.com/voidlinux/documentation/wiki/Quickstart> is

I noticed some issues with fonts overlapping during terminal imulation and had to switch over to a monospace font to remedy readability. Not sure if this persisted thereafter, I found myself downloading fonts and icon sets and pretty quickly and haven't had a problem since.

Initial booting looked fine, still does.

Dear JD Robinson,

I fixed this issue as of yesterday, x86 live images starting from 20150408
now contain a monospace font to remedy this (terminus-font and
font-misc-misc).

Yours truly.
