Disclosure: I'm a noob still learning linux

Anyway, I installed Void on my laptop about two days ago and had a smooth
install and installed i3 and everything I needed including pulse and alsa.
I can't sound to work at all

I run the command "pulseaudio" and I get this <http://pastebin.com/KxGCfT0M>.
/run/dbus doesn't even exist. I tried using pavucontrol and got this error
http://i.imgur.com/bwiA80P.png

I try running start-pulseaudio-x11 and get "E: [pulseaudio] main.c: Daemon
startup failed."

I also made sure I had everything unmuted in alsamixer.

Would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction,
thanks.

Try enabling the dbus service.

And add your user to the "audio"-group:

usermod -a -G audio <username>
