Wouldn't it be better to absorb the examples into the upstream
documentation?

The zsh-lovers page is a fairly extensive collection of examples which goes
well beyond mere illustration. While it's perfectly possible that
including some of those examples in the main manual would add to clarity,
it doesn't seem to me it would in any sense replace the zsh-lovers
documentation.
