I keep getting things like this:
cpu% man backup
troff: warning: can't find hyphen.tex; stdin:40
I have probably done somthing silly but running
du -a /n/sources | grep hyphen
felt a bit antisocial.
Anyone any thoughts?

you are missing /sys/lib/texmf/tex/generic/hyphen.tex [sic].
it is the only tex file in the standard distribution,
precisely because troff consults it.
