[due to the secret agenda of the unix system support staff here i'm unable to
read news and reply to it on the same system, so i'm replying to this on the list.]
I just press enter to get the default values as the installation manual
demands. Now there comes something about starting fs fileserver, but
directly after that weird crap starts flowing on screen. It looks something
like this
##4";####;324#;3AA;##4";####;324#;3AA
This kind of code comes over and over until it fills the screen.

That EtherEZ isn't in the supported hardware list but it should be same as
Ultra. At least I think it is.
i bet it isn't. these messages look like those the 8390 driver gives
when the packet ring in the on-board memory is corrupted. that usually means
that either the base address of the on-board memory or the size of that
memory is incorrect. i'm not familiar with the card you have, check the
values against what the kernel believes.
