I personally think 'D' is reachng a level of maturity to take on much of that 
'C' strength in a saner way, and with near-zero 'speed' penalty - the bane of 
most other alternatives.

A compromise, of course - but a very sensible one, given needs that will not go 
away.

OTOH, 'D' has not had several decades of 'committees' bending the original 
goals... Not yet anyway..
