> Is anybody using dual- or quad-processor rack-mount hardware as a CPU server?

I used to run diskless cpu servers on NEC Express 5800/420La Blade Servers.
It was a dual Pentium III 1.4GHz on a blade with 3 fast ether. 6 blades
can be installed in a 3U high, 19 inch rack mountable chassi.
They just worked including PXE booting from an existing Plan 9 file/cpu server.

I have a Dual PIII 650 cpu/fs/auth server at home (felix.quintile.net), a PII 400
laptop which dual boots NT4 (for surfing) and plan9 as a terminal, and a P4 1.6G
standalone terminal at work - This will be netbooted from a PII 450 server
when I get round to it.

Pat Hacker (venti+fossil+cpu server on via epia 800), terminal & drawterm

Used for daily work and mail server for picoworks.com.
Plan 9, Acme and guide files sure make a nice customizable environment
for program development; an added plus, no garish colors or ugly icons.

Pat

OK, www.scan.co.uk appears to have a USRobotics rtl8169 card
for £11.50 - that should do.

Here's a brief explanantion of some of the recent updates
to the core system, for the 3 of you out there still running
a native system.

8c	-H5 flag
produces an ELF format header understood by the Plan 9
	libmach and by Grub

?c	-. flag
suppress the default include file search order for include
	files enclosed by '"'

9load
understand the -H5 format of 8c

wavelan
	accept keys in hex format

ethervt6102.c
replacement for etherrhine which tries to recover better
from errors and tries to optimise packet copies
