I've replied to your 9trouble mail (with the same question) twice,
but apparently my mail isn't getting through. Perhaps the list will
get it through.

The ethernet 83815 driver is not happy with your card.
In the file "plan9.ini" on your floppy disk, try adding
the line

	*noetherprobe=

and comment out (with a # at the beginning of the line)
any ethernet lines (like ether0=...). Then boot again.
Once you get the system installed, we can try to figure out
what's wrong with the ethernet driver.

What kind of ethernet card do you have?

Russ

Thank you! I bought this card just for Plan 9. It is a(looks for box)
Netgear FA311. The page I printed from the Plan 9 Wiki told me it's
supported. I will try editing the floppy on my laptop, since my PC's floppy
drive is broken. For some reason, the door broke off, and is now stuck in
the floppy drive. The screws inside are stripped, so I can't install a new
one :(

AHHHHH! After the install, I reboot, and it says "sdC0!fs does not contain a
valid DOS partition". It even does this for the boot floppy! It trys to boot
off of "sdC0!9fat!plan9.ini". It's evil. EVIL I SAY!

Nevermind, the boot floppy works, but the HD doesn't. *cries*

And, OF COURSE, after I boot it from the floppy, it says it can't find /386,
and the boot process dies. This is fun. Not.

First one. When I said the boot disk works, I mean it works when I do that
command, but it says /386 is missing during the bootup process.

Does the message say "does not contain a DOS file system"
or "does not contain a DOS or KFS file system"? I hope it
says the latter. The bit about plan9.ini is correct.

Using the boot disk, see if you can boot from fd0!9pcdisk.gz.

Russ

Hi, this is my first time posting... I have a problem with the installer.
When it uncompresses the kernel, it prints this after cpu0: 233MHz
GenuineIntel PentiumII.
 ELCR: 0E00
panic: ns83815: soft reset did not complete
<debug>
cpu0: exiting
