Let me grab my chance right here. I get:

	term% emu
	; wm/wm
attachwindow: cannot handle window depth specifier x8r8g8b8
wmlib: can't allocate Display: initdisplay: /dev/draw/new: '/usr/inferno/dev/draw' file does not exist
	;

and I can't imagine where to start attacking this problem.
Suggestions?

Installation of OzInferno is easier ... one file, no dumb install shield.
But of course it doesn't exist. Ha ha ...

Which marketing or legal department's people need to have their toes
held to the fire to enable the release of OzInferno?

Try using vgasize=...x16 or ...x24 instead of ...x32 in plan9.ini.

how old is it? i'm fairly sure that was an artifact of some ancient code
that did little but get in the way, which i removed a little while ago

March 3rd, 2006, if memory serves. I haven't been aware of any later
release. Then again, I keep falling off the Inferno mailing list, so
I gave up on that one.

Sounds good, but I think I tried that. Of course, I'd be 1300 km and
three weeks away from being able to try it again.

I do like forsyth's answer better :-)

for what it's worth, i'm seeing this as well. the plan 9 is current and
the inferno is 20060303.

neither x16 or x24 fixed the problem.

Yes. That message got resurrected by rebooting my mail exchanger after
it failed and, seemingly, after its mail queue sweeper had died
undetected a while back.

My apologies to all who may have been inconvenienced in any way.
